...All foods that while healthy, are mainly sources of carbs.
That does not mean carbs are bad. On the contrary, you need carbs; you just need
to balance them with other foods. If you want to get the most out of your
breakfast you should be including something with a little protein to your carbohydrate meal.
Protein fills you up, so you won't get hungry as quickly. It also helps to keep you alert as opposed to meals strictly made out of starches. That doesn’t mean you should only eat protein either. Without those natural sugars in your blood from carbs, you brain isn’t going to get the fuel it needs to work through the day so you might feel unfocused.
An ideal breakfast includes a high source of fibre (like fruit, vegetables, whole grain breads or cereals) and a lean protein (meat, eggs, nuts, low fat cheese, milk etc.).
So get creative! Try adding some nuts of your cereal, melt a little cheese on your
toast or even try a veggie omelette. You'll be surprised how far it will take you.
