Well here is the solution!
Surfset has been making waves (can't ignore a bad pun when I get the chance) since it was shown on Shark Tank, America's Version of Dragon's Den. You may have caught a demonstration on one of your favorite talk shows but it is basically a surfboard on a balance board with some resistance pulleys. The purpose is to recreate the exercises you would normally need to do in order to surf. You use the pulleys to paddle and then stand up on the board which wobbles as it would on the water.
Demonstration videos show lots of other exercises but overall it does look like a lot of fun. It is based out of the US but I have heard through my colleagues that there is a vendor now in Canada based out of Hamilton. Reports say they will be demonstrating the product at the Hamilton Spectator Nutrition and Wellness Expo happening in April.
It's a very cool concept much like the water spin bikes. It is also about as practical as water bikes for gyms and facilities to set up. It is likely only larger cities will be offering this form of exercise for the next few years until it takes off but we will have to wait and see.
Below is a video demonstrating how the Surfset works.
