It means the dirt temperature can change fast so I have to be careful about when I plant and that the pots will dry out faster so I have to be more diligent with watering.
My real pride this year will be my herb tower. You see the pots stacked on top of each other? I bought several different sized pots to stack along with smaller pots that I placed inverted inside of each to acts as a support. I also filled the inverted pots with rocks to help weigh it down and for drainage.
Each level of the tower will have 3-4 different herbs on it and I even intentionally picked some that I know will crawl so they will cascade down the side of the pots. I will be sure to post another picture of the herb garden if it successfully takes. My thought here is that I want to have lots of herbs, but have the challenge of limited space.
If this pot takes well, I will have all the fresh herbs I could want this summer with very little space lost.
The big stake you see is for the pea plant to grow up: also a space saver.
Here is to a green and tasty summer. If anyone else has some creative potting techniques they have used, please share them with me on the contacts page. I would love to feature your unique growing technique and pictures on the blog!
