Only problem is that his invention is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen.
Why bother with the concept of eating healthy and exercise when you can just SUCK the food back out?
That's right, Mr. Kamen has invented a tubing device that is implanted onto the torso and through to your stomach so you can just suck the food back out after you eat it. Then, you squeeze a little container that replaces the food with water. You also get the pleasure of dumping your partially digested suction out of the tube and into the toilet.
Preliminary studies have found that the machine actually does help with weight loss, though it tells nothing about potential side effects, vitamin deficiencies or long term weight loss that occurs (if any). The machine has a few set backs too. Some foods apparently don't suck up as well like popcorn, broccoli and chips (mmm...tube chunks).
Let me ask you this: if you have a machine sucking the food right back out of you, what do you think is going to happen when the machine is removed? Will you have learned to eat reasonable portions and follow a healthier diet to maintain your new weight? If you suck the food out before you digest it, do you think you get much nutrition from it?
Not a chance.
As far as I'm concerned this is mechanical bulimia. Probably why the FDA hasn't approved it yet.
Gross. End of story.
