Pepsico has been testing it's own 'drinkified' creation called Dewitos (Dorito Flavored Soda) on American campuses and it could be hitting shelves in the very near future. It's not clear from the reviews if it's a hit or not but the best description people seem to be able to give is that it tastes like liquid cheese....which I suppose is what they must be going for.
Jones Soda is famous having unique pop flavors like cotton candy and berry lemonade. They've been taking it a step further even releasing limited edition flavors during the holidays. Yep, you can recreate your cherished holiday meal all in soda form including mashed potatoes with butter, green bean casserole and turkey with gravy. I can't say I've ever missed the holidays so much I'd want to drink a carbonated version of it. It appears for now though the turkey pop has been retired.
One country that really seems to be exploring it's flavor options in Japan. Japanese company Tobacco Inc released a novelty beverage called Unagi Nobori which translates to "surging eel'. Yep, eel flavored soda. It was made to recreate the flavors of a popular eel dish traditionally prepared during the summer. It's even made from actual eel and fortified with vitamins similar to those found in the food dish. Pepsi and Coke have tried to keep up in Japan with their own savory pop flavors within the country including cucumber and 'watery salad'.
There certainly seems to be a lot of creativity in the pop world out there. Which would you want to try?
